Your braking system is the single most safety-critical part of your car. It converts the kinetic energy of a moving vehicle into heat — which means every part of it is constantly under stress, heat and corrosion.
Most cars use pads gripping discs at each wheel (with shoes and drums on the rear of some smaller vehicles). But the system also depends on the master cylinder, calipers, hoses, fluid, the ABS module and the brake servo — and any one of them can fail.
We inspect the full braking system on every collection. If anything needs work beyond what you booked, we send you photos and a fixed quote — and we don't lift a spanner until you approve it.
Brake services we offer
The most common brake job — pads wear down with use and need replacing every 30–70k miles depending on driving style. Signs include squealing, longer stopping distances or a warning light.
Discs (rotors) sit behind the pads and warp, score or corrode over time. We replace them in pairs (per axle) to keep braking even and predictable.
Brake Caliper Repair
The caliper houses the pads and squeezes them onto the disc. When pistons seize or seals leak, you get pulling under braking, hot wheels or fluid loss — we strip, rebuild or replace.
Brake Hose Replacement
Brake hoses are flexible rubber lines that carry fluid under huge pressure. Heat and time make them brittle. A burst hose means no brakes at that wheel — we replace them with braided or OEM-spec hoses.
ABS Repair
Anti-lock Braking System faults trigger the ABS warning light and can disable traction control too. We run a diagnostic test, identify the failed sensor, ring or module, and fit a replacement.
Brake Fluid Change
Brake fluid absorbs water over time, which lowers its boiling point and causes a spongy pedal. Every two years (or 24k miles) we drain the system, flush with fresh DOT 4 and bleed the lines.
Brake Shoe Replacement
Smaller and older cars use drums and shoes on the rear axle. When the shoes wear down they no longer grip the drum properly — we inspect drums, cylinders and shoes together and replace as needed.
Brake Servo Repair
The servo (booster) multiplies your pedal force using engine vacuum. When it fails, the pedal feels hard and stopping distance increases dramatically. We test the vacuum line and replace the servo if needed.

Common signs: squealing or grinding when you brake, a spongy or low-feeling pedal, the car pulling to one side when stopping, longer stopping distances, or a brake warning light on the dashboard.
Not always — but often. If your discs are scored, warped or below minimum thickness, we replace pads and discs together. If the discs are still healthy we just fit new pads. We always show you the parts being replaced.
OEM-quality parts as standard — usually Brembo, Pagid, Mintex or the manufacturer’s own brand. We can fit premium or budget options if you ask, and we always tell you what you’re paying for.
A full front pad and disc replacement is typically 1–2 hours. Calipers and hoses add another hour. ABS diagnostics can take longer depending on the fault.
No — UK Block Exemption Regulation means an independent garage using OEM-spec parts cannot void your manufacturer warranty, as long as the work is stamped and recorded.
Tell us when you book. We can collect on a flatbed if needed, rather than drive an unsafe car back to the workshop. Safety first — always.
Yes — every brake job comes with a 12-month parts and labour warranty. If anything fails or doesn’t feel right within 12 months, we fix it free.
Yes — courtesy cars are an optional paid add-on at booking, subject to availability. For most brake jobs we can have your car back the same day, so most customers don’t need one.
